Therapy Dog Prep Class 5pm 9-18 to 10-23

Service Description

This class will get you ready for therapy work out in the community in a variety of volunteer setting. This class include exposure to medical equipment and environmental challenges unique to therapy settings, learning how to correctly meet and greet various people, reviewing laws and ethics critical to therapy work, discussing the available therapy dog organizations, learning to read our dogs body language and make adjustments as needed, and working on building strong impulse control to keep four feet on the floor and to leave things like dropped medications or food alone. ***Your dog must have completed at least a level 2 and walk well on leash OR passed the AKC CGC prior to class start*** If you are unsure if your dog would make a good therapy dog, please contact Kathy directly for an evaluation.
